PEARadigm:
Quite the activist and the humanitarian. When did you start becoming involved in the various causes you have taken to heart?
Lynx:
I’ve always been concerned about world events and my community but about a year and a half ago I realized that I had the power to help bring awareness to injustices or any situation that is not positive or healing for our hoods and communities or the world. I may not have the money to back and support these causes but I could lend my signature and my voice. I would like to think that my efforts have helped bring awareness to the crisis in Darfur, The Jena 6, and I have supported Justice for Sean Bell.

I am currently looking into helping to bring awareness to one of the most horrific acts of wildlife cruelty I have ever come across Bear Bile Farming. A friend I made on myspace brought it to my attention. Thanks Joe. For those of you interested in finding out just what this is about please go to this link http://www.animalsasia.org/index.php?module=2&menupos=7&lg=en I must warn you it is very disturbing. If you feel moved then pass the info along, raising awareness is the first step. I also am against wearing fur, I recently saw an ad for a major furrier and the ad mentioned that there were fur coats available up to a size 10 x. What, Que???????!!!!!!!! I always appreciate when fashion recognizes the plus size but my God do you know how many animals have to be killed for a 1x let alone a 10 x. Please my people, FAKE FUR IS FLY; I wear it all the time. My people take a picture of yourselves wearing fake fur and looking fly and send it to supersizespanishfly@gmail.com .

I am moved and compelled to always remember our fallen soldiers in the struggle, the victims of 911, Vtech our people in Iraq, the mothers and fathers who fight for better education for our children. With every ounce of my being and every inch of my massiveness I will always fight for those who need help to fight, to speak out and to obtain support. I am the voice of the everyday person. I will only support causes that empower and promote change and I will support and defend those who have no voice. One of my listeners referred to me as The Latin Ghetto Oprah and it has kind of stuck with me. I don’t think Oprah is such a bad person to be compared to but no disrespect, Move Over Oprah…there is something meatier!!!

PEARadigm:

You were/are heavily involved in the Jena 6 Movement… can you share with us the extent of your efforts, and why you have been one to champion this cause?
Lynx:
It was my duty as a person of color, as a mother of a mixed child and as a human being. I first heard about the Jena 6 from my friend Sugar and when I googled “Racism in Jena Louisiana” about two or three articles popped up and I was like “Oh hell, why did I never hear anything about this mess in the news” I was appalled and I knew the people would feel the same but they needed to know about it first.
I presented the situation to the owners of Eg radio, Ras and Myk Jones and our blogger at the time E. Simms and there was no hesitation we acted immediately and featured The Jena Six injustice on our hot topics segment. We added the links to the Jena Six as well as the Jena Six Petition to our blogs and the response from our listeners was nothing short of incredible. Our listeners (450,000 strong) came out in full force proving what I already knew- Hip Hop Unifies and day after day we watched as the numbers on the petition rose. We were even featured in the November issue (pg 18) of The Source Magazine for being one of the first online internet broadcast to digitally bringing awareness to the situation before it gained national attention. It was all thanks to a great team. And we have not swayed, we still blog and follow the situation and keep the awareness moving.
