| You are
involved in many endeavors.
Let’s talk about some of these
starting with Lynx’s Lair; what
is it, and how did it come to
fruition? |
|
|
|
Lynx: |
I I was
frustrated as an artist,
struggling to get some exposure
and I was invited to be a guest
on a show called “Goddesses” a
Public Access show dedicated to
big beautiful women hosted by
Nancy Goddess. It was there I
had met Cliff Jacobs a producer
and program director at the
station and he told me I could
have my own show so with his
help I created Lynx’ Lair to
showcase the talents of the
underground music scene and it
has become a popular show on
Time Warner QPTV and Cliff aka
The Big Red Dawg, has become a
dear special friend.
I have showcased the likes of
UMA (Underground Music Award)
winner Alvare, La Bruja, Joell
Ortiz, before he got signed ,
Crown City Records, JuJu of The
Beatnuts , Miki Flow from Cuba ,
Bclay from Africa and of course
my dear friend Melle Mel. But I
must admit although I put out a
show every month Lynx’ Lair has
taken a back seat to my latest
endeavor. Radio Personality on

...And this Radio show? |
|
|
|
Lynx: |
Wow it has
been one of the most gratifying
and enlightening journey of my
life. First and foremost I work
with great people who have great
work ethics and are constantly
looking to improve and get to
the next level. Founder and
creator of Extravagangsta Radio
John “Ras” Perez and his partner
Myk Jones and I have got great
chemistry on the show , we laugh
and joke and have a good old
time reporting the news and we
can even get heated during our
Hot Topics segments but there is
a tremendous amount of respect
for one another and they have
allowed me to create such shows
as my ladies night and Prison
Chronicles or specials such as
Latinos in America with guests
like Pioneer Dj Disco Wiz,
actress April Lee Hernandez of
“Freedom Writers” and Ivan
Sanchez , dear friend and author
of the critically acclaimed book
Next Stop: Growing up Wild Style
in The Bronx- and they give me
the freedom to blog about
anything I like and they support
all of the various movements I
am a part of, especially the BBW
movement and The Jena Six
movement.

PEARadigm: |
| You have a
passion for music. What music is
Lynx listening to? |
|
|
|
Lynx: |
Seriously, no lie, at this
moment “Mahgdi Madani” by the
late great Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
- The Emperor of Qawwali. I’m in
the zone right now. My people,
mi gente…get your hands on some
Nusrat and experience some real
deep interesting spiritual music
and chanting. You don’t need to
speak the language to feel the
raw emotion and intensity.
When I want to get amped about
my causes I listen to Super Nova
Slom, Nyoil and Rebel Diaz, some
raw gritty social conscience
underground ISH. Underground,
but not for long, soon the world
will catch on and be inspired.
When I’m on my New York Ish, I
listen to Jay Z, Myk Gunz, Joell
Ortiz , T Weaponz and when I
want to clean my house I throw
on some Jimmy Flavorr , Notch,
Vakero or some salsa Victor
Manuelle , un merenguito (some
merengue).
When I’m feeling blue I like to
listen to Billie Holiday or
Muddy Waters , Patsy Cline and
Ana Gabriel.
When I’m feeling romantic I like
to listen to the soulful ballads
of the 70’s and 80’s, light a
couple of scented candles and
lay back in my leopard Pajamas
and sip on some sweet dark wine
and reflect and reminisce about
my past loves and experiences
and contemplate and wonder who
God may have for me to share my
heart, body and soul. I know he
is out there and I am looking
forward to meeting and beginning
a life with him and my child.

I was
fortunate enough to catch you
LIVE at a spoke word event, at a
popular spot in New York City.
You stole the show, unexpected
and unannounced, during the
freestyle drum session. All
musicians and artists were
encouraged to participate and
chime in. You were the first to
the front, asked for the mic,
and exhaled in the beauty and
grace of your native tongue,
with an effortless ease. The
crowd loved it. Is Music another
talent Lynx is about to explore,
or have you already?

the evening, at the same event,
you went on to perform some
spoken word. It was passionate,
motivating, uplifting… What was
Lynx talking about that night?
